Telnet receives message EZZ6035I writing SMF record

Troubleshooting

Problem

The TN3270 server receives message EZZ6035I, Rcode 2006 when attempting to write SMF records.

Cause

The TN3270 server is configured to write SMF records. When a SMF record is written, the following message appears:

    EZZ6035I TELNET DEBUG CLIENT IPADDR..PORT 10.1.2.3..1026
CONN: 000040C8 LU: IBM10001 MOD: EZBTVSSC
RCODE: 2006-01 Error writing SMF record.
      PARM1: 00000014 PARM2: 00000000 PARM3: 00000000

The message indicates the write of the SMF record, using SMFEWTM, failed. PARM1 contains the Rcode from SMFEWTM

Resolving The Problem

The PARM1 of 14 indicates that the SMFEWTM service could not write the record because the installation-written IEFU83, IEFU84, or IEFU85 exit routine suppressed the record. Review exits IEFU83, IEFU84 and IEFU85 to determine why the record was rejected.

A possible reason is that Telnet is not configured to write the correct SMF record type. Ensure the TelnetParms SMFINIT and SMFTERM statements are coded for the SMF types required for your installation. See the IP Configuration Reference, section 2.8.2.36 SMFINIT and SMFTERM for more information
