Supported Storage Devices
Tivoli Storage Manager Express supports any direct access storage device or disk that is supported by the operating system.
IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Express only supports libraries that have four or fewer drives and 48 or fewer storage slots. To use a library with greater than 4 drives or greater than 48 storage slots, Tivoli Storage Manager Extended Edition is required.
Ensure that both your libraries and drives are supported by Tivoli Storage Manager Express. Exceptions are listed in the library device-configuration page, which you can access by clicking the library name.
Device Drivers Supported
The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager device driver, supplied with Tivoli Storage Manager Express, is required when using tape drives or libraries with Tivoli Storage Manager Express. For IBM Ultrium devices, the IBM device driver is required. The IBM device drivers are available from ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com/storage/devdrvr/. Tivoli Storage Manager Express does not support device drivers from third party vendors.
