Troubleshooting
Problem
This technote documents an issue in IBM® Rational® ClearQuest® where you can not edit a report format if you rename the record type that the report format was originally created with.
Symptom
Steps to reproduce:
- Checkout defect tracking schema and rename defect record type to defects.
- Test work in your SAMPL database and go to report formats folder. Right-click an out of the box report format and select edit.
- Click the Author report button and you will receive the following error:
ERROR! An error was detected retrieving information from the ClearQuest database.
There is a reference to an object that does not exist:
Object Type: Entity
Object: Defect
This error was detected at: ClearQuest Core: admetadatamgr.cpp:1239
Resolving The Problem
Renaming Record Types will break integrations with Crystal Reports formats. See Rational ClearQuest technote 1202987 for additional information.
The workaround is to check out the schema, revert to the original entity name, check in the schema, and upgrade the user database.
