Connection to DB2 database displays only numeric data

Technote (FAQ)

Question

You try to use Lotus Approach to connect to a DB2 database. You've recently upgraded your Oracle database from 8i to 9i. From the File menu, you choose Open --> Files of type --> IBM DB2 --> Open. You can view all the tables that you normally see in the view but you only see the numeric fields. All the date and text fields are missing.

NOTE: This situation occurs on both front end and back end databases.

This situation does not occur when you open Approach and try to connect using the ODBC driver as the "Files of type" option.
