This tutorial teaches you how to build a simple client application in DB2 Document Manager. Once you build this application, you can perform basic document management tasks, such as checking documents into the repository, moving documents through a life cycle, and searching for documents.

This reference contains detailed information about the client application programming interface (API) that ships with IBM DB2 Document Manager Version 8.3 Fix Pack 4. The client API is a set of component object model (COM) programming interfaces that enable you to create programs that integrate with the DB2 Document Manager library. Custom applications that use the client API can be built using any development tools that support COM, such as Microsoft® Visual C++ 6.0, Microsoft Visual Basic, and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET (managed and un-managed C++, C#, Visual Basic .NET, and so on). Microsoft VBScript is also supported.
