Steps to manually enable a specific JRE for XDE Tester scripts

Troubleshooting

Problem

The user needs to playback an IBM® Rational® XDE™ Tester script on an IBM® Rational® TestAgent, but the user cannot enable the Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) on the agent. This technote discusses how to manually enable the JRE on the agent.

Resolving The Problem

To manually enable a JRE on a Rational Test Agent:

  1. Edit the accessibilities.properties file. It can be found in the jre\lib folder of the JRE on the agent. It must have the following line added to it:

    assistive_technologies=com.rational.test.ft.bootstrap.Bootstrap
  2. Copy the rational_ft_bootstrap.jar and rtxivboot.dll files to the jre\lib\ext folder of the JRE on the agent. The files can be found in the

    Program Files\Rational\XDETester\eclipse\plugins\com.rational.test.ft.wswplugin_2.0.0

    folder on the local drive of the computer on which XDE Tester is installed.
