The JAVA_HOME environment variable is not set

Resolving The Problem

When installing the Java 1.3.1 version of Java that comes with the Access Manager install, the environment variable for JAVA_HOME is not set by default. To correct this issue, there are two options... to set it via command line or via the Systems Control Panel.

Option 1:

Command Line:

1. Open up a Command Prompt window.

2. Type the following command:

set JAVA_HOME=c:\Program Files\IBM\Java131\jre

Option 2:

System Control Panel: (This is an example for a Win2003 Server, other servers may vary.)

1. Access the Control Panels folder in Windows and open the 'System Properties' icon.

2. Click on the 'Advanced Tab'.

3. Click on the 'Environment Variables' button .

4. Under the System variables, click on the 'New' button to bring up the 'New System Variable' window.

5. Type in 'JAVA_HOME' for the Variable name.

6. Type in 'c:\Program Files\IBM\Java131\jre' for the Variable value.

7. Select OK to store value and select OK again to close the Environment window.
