Remove the label from a version using the Version Tree Browser

Question & Answer

Question

How can a label be removed from a version of an element when using the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® Version Tree Browser?

Answer

Below are the instructions to remove a version label using the ClearCase GUI (version Tree Browser) functionality, which is the equivalent of cleartool rmlabel <LABEL_NAME> from command line (CLI).

Note: To execute this operation, the logged on account must be one of the following:

  • element group member,
  • element owner,
  • VOB owner,
  • ClearCase group member (ClearCase), or
  • local admin on the ClearCase LT server host

There are two methods available:

1. Version Tree Browser:

    • Right-click the labeled version
    • Select Properties
    • Select the Labels tab
    • Highlight the label in the open pane and right-click
    • Select Remove Label

2. ClearCase context menu:

    • Right-click on the labeled version in the view
    • Select Properties of Version
    • Select the Labels tab
    • Highlight the label in the open pane and right-click
    • Select Remove Label

Refer to technote 1126736 Removing labels recursively for information about command line syntax that can be used to recursively remove labels.
