Overview

There are four primary server processes that are specifically related to starting and stopping Rational ClearCase, and only two of those are applicable to Rational ClearCase LT, as noted below.

Here are the ClearCase services with their acronyms:
  • Atria Location Broker Daemon (ALBD)

  • MultiVersion File System (MVFS)

  • Credentials Manager (CCCREDMGR)

  • Lock Manager (LOCKMGR)

These services are listed on the ClearCase Control Panel:

CLEARCASE

The ClearCase server processes (Location Broker, Lock Manager, and Credentials Manager services) can be started and stopped from the command line; however, the MVFS is loaded directly into the kernel and cannot be shut down from the command line.

To reload the MVFS, restart the host; see
technote 1230196 for more details About the MultiVersion File System (MVFS).

Run the following command to see ClearCase ALBD, Lock Manager, and Credentials Manager services are running on the host:

>NET START

A list of programs will scroll on the screen, and you want to look for a derivative of the following entries:

Atria Location Broker
IBM Rational Lock Manager
Rational Cred Manager

Note: MVFS is not listed in this output. MVFS is enabled by default and will start and remain running while the host is booted up.

To stop the ALBD, Lock Manager, and Credentials Manager services, issue the following commands individually:

NET STOP ALBD

NET STOP LOCKMGR

NET STOP CCCREDMGR

Support Discontinuance for ClearCase LT in version 7.1 for further details.

The ClearCase server processes (Location Broker and Lock Manager services) can be started and stopped from the command line; however, MVFS is not supported on ClearCase LT.
