How do you export and import stateless records with back references in IBM® Rational® ClearQuest®?

Prerequisites:
- For more information on exporting and import records, refer to technote 1234126. It includes links to multimedia materials that explain how to use both tools.
- The unique key of the stateless record that contains the back reference must be one of the fields that is available to select in Step 3 of the Import Tool, with the exception of the dbid field. This field has a special meaning within the context of ClearQuest. Using it as the unique key in this instance will cause the process to fail.
Note: If for example the dbid field is defined as a unique key, a new temporary field could be defined in the stateless record type and the dbid could be copied to this field by an API call. After successful import this temporary field can be removed.
How to export and import:
- Export the stateless records, excluding the back reference list.
- Export all fields of the parent record including the reference list.
- Import the stateless record making sure to select the unique key during step 3.
- Import the parent records. During step 4, make sure that the id from the Source field label is mapped with old_id in the Destination field label.
The import of the parent records will automatically upgrade the back references in the stateless records.
