Troubleshooting
Problem
This technote explains why the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® logs identify database error []db_VISTA -900[] and provides instructions to troubleshoot the problem.
Cause
Database intensive operations such as reformatvob, mkreplica or rmreplica produce db_VISTA -900 error messages in the logs:
04/02/98 15:08:01 db_server(6254): Ok: *** db_VISTA database error -900 - no more space on file
04/02/98 15:08:01 db_server(6254): Error: DBMS error in "../db__str.c" line 862
04/02/98 15:08:01 db_server(6254): Error: DBMS error in
/cmat/vobstore/tkvob.vbs/db.
04/02/98 15:08:01 db_server(6254): Error: db_VISTA error -900 (errno == "No such file or directory")
This error can relate to one of the following problems:
- Disk Space
- Disk Quotas
Resolving The Problem
DISK SPACE:
The filesystem being written to is filling up during the operation (reformatvob, mkreplica etc...). Check for inadequate disk space on the VOB server. If the file system is low on disk space, move the VOB storage to a file system with more disk space.
DISK QUOTAS:
If disk quotas are enabled on the file system containing the VOB storage location, remove the disk quotas.
