How do you use Phis? Copies of phis, phis with Reference Numbers (RNs), and phi with various states?
You may wish to use output for a task as an input to two or more subsequent tasks. If you try to connect a task to two or more identical output phis, then you will get an error message. You must make a copy of the phi in order to show copies going to the second task. You can make phi copies through the Repository>Process Data>Phi path or by double left-clicking on a phi object and checking the 'Make Copy' box on the General tab of the Phi Object dialog box.
Phis with the same name and different reference numbers (RNs) are different instances of the same phi that are used in different parts of the process diagram. You can assign RN values by double left clicking on the phi object and entering the RN's value in the RN box on the General tab of the Phi Object dialog box.
You would use a phi with different states to show a change in that phi as it passes through a process. You can specify or change a phi object's state through the Repository>Process Data>Phi>State path or by double left clicking on a phi object and entering the information on the State tab of the Phi Object dialog box.
