Determining if a view or folder is "Shared, Private on First Use" in Domino Designer
Once a 'Shared, Private on First Use' view is created in Notes, is it possible to double-check what type of view it is?
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# GUD4JJPNT.
In early versions of Notes/Domino, it was not easily apparent if a view or folder was a special type. Refer to Document #1102918, "What are the Standard Icons for Views & Folders and What Do They Tell You?", for more information about the icons used in earlier versions.
In Domino Designer 5.0 and later releases, an icon appears to the left of a view or folder name to indicate if a view is "Shared, Private on First Use" or a private version. In earlier releases, you could easily determine this by examining the design elements of the $Flags field.
In Domino Designer, you can access the $Flags field of a design element by highlighting the element and from the Design menu, selecting Design Properties --> Field (second) tab --> scrolling down to the $Flags field.
NOTE: This following information is provided for informational use only. $Flags values may change from one release to another. Product Development does not support programmatically modifying the $Flags field.
-- The shared version of a "Private on First Use" view or folder will have a "key one" icon to the left of the name.
- If the private version is to be stored on the desktop, the $Flags field will include "po".
- If the private version is to be stored in the database (constrained by ACL rights), the $Flags field will include "p".
-- The private version of a "Shared, Private on First Use" view or folder will have a key icon. The $Flags field will include a "V" to indicate that it is the private version if it is stored in the database. It will include a "p" or "po" to indicate if it is stored in the database or desktop.
A number of $Flags values are allowed in combination. The table below provides the most common values and what they indicate.
NOTE: These flags may not be limited to using with just views and folders.
A view/folder to be hidden from R3 clients; always appears with folders introduced in Notes 4.0.
A public view/folder to be hidden from the menu; does not appear directly listed in the View menu selection.
A folder with the option "Do not allow design refresh/replace to modify" switched on.
A personal view/folder or the private version of "Shared, Private on First Use".
A "Private on First Use" view/folder; the private version (with a "V") will be stored in the database unless the user's ACL rights do not include this.
A "Shared, Private on First Use" view/folder; the private version will be stored in the desktop file. This option was introduced in Notes 5.0.
