Monitoring the number of packets taking HiperSockets Accelerator path

Troubleshooting

Problem

How to monitor HiperSockets Accelerator activity

Resolving The Problem

The HiperSockets Accelerator path can be activated by configuring the IQDIORouting option (IPv4 only) on the IPCONFIG statement. The IQDIORouting option specifies that inbound packets that are to be forwarded by this TCP/IP stack are eligible to be routed directly between a HiperSockets device and an OSA-Express device in QDIO mode without needing to be sent to this TCP/IP stack for forwarding.

Any packets that take the HiperSockets Accelerator path are not included in NETSTAT DEVLINK counts on the stack on which the HiperSockets Accelerator is enabled. This occurs because the stack is bypassed entirely when we accelerate.

Use VTAM tuning statistics to monitor for number of packets or bytes that are accelerated.
