Question

What are the prerequisites needed to successfully execute DB2 XML Extender on the iSeries operating system.

Answer

The following Licensed Program Products are required. The list shows the Licensed Program, Product option number, and a Product Description.


5722SS1......13.......OS/400 - System Openness Includes
5722SS1......33.......OS/400 - Portable App Solutions Environment
5722SS1......39.......OS/400 - International Components for Unicode
5722WDS.....51.......Compiler - ILE C
5722ST1.................DB2 Query Mgr and SQL DevKit
5733XT1.................XML Toolkit Option 7 is needed if using V5R3 and V5R4
5733XT2.................XML Toolkit Option 6 is needed if using V6R1

In addition to the products mentioned above, you may also require 5722JV1 (Java Toolkit) if you plan to develop applications that use Java or are web based.

DB2 XML Extender requires that when using Structured Query Language (SQL)
that the *SQL naming convention (collection-name.table-name) be used.

The following paragraph applies only to customers who use United States English language CCSID(s). DB2 XML Extender accepts a wide range of CCSID languages.
For US English language customers, DB2 XML Extender requires that you use the Coded Character Set Identifier (CCSID) 37. DB2 XML Extender does not recognize CCSID 65535 as valid. The CCSID can be changed to fit your OS/400 environment needs by using the following commands.

CHGSYSVAL SYSVAL(QCCSID) VALUE(37)

CHGUSRPRF USRPRF(XXXXX) CCSID(37)

CHGJOB CCSID(37)

CHGJOBD JOBD(XXXX/XXXX) USER(XXXX) where USER=USRPRF with CCSID 37.
