Technote (FAQ)

Question

DB2® High Performance Unload (HPU) locks a table if "QUIESCE YES" is specified. The lock is released immediately after the QUIESCE.

Answer

If HPU is executed with QUIESCE YES to ensure that all user data is externalized, a LOCK TABLE statement is issued regardless of the LOCK parameter.
