Step 3: Add scripts and configuration to Windows images
residing in High Scale Low Touch cloud groups.

1. Put the WinImagePreparation.zip file into the Windows
operating system. You obtain this zip file when uncompressing
IBM SmartCloud Provisioning fixpack 1 tar file.
2. Extract the content of the WinImagePreparation.zip file
into a directory of your choice, for example c:\scripts. The
scripts contained into the zip file are used to change
various registry settings and install scp-cloud-init and
change_hostname scripts on Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2 and
Windows 7. If you are using a diffent Windows flavour, see
the section Manually configuring Windows images.
3. After you installed IBM SmartCloud Provisioning fixpack 1,
download the following files:
http://<workload_deployer_machine>/downloads/cloud-init/
scp-cloud-init.vbs
http://<workload_deployer_machine>/downloads/cloud-init/
scp-cloud-init.cmd
and copy them into c:\scripts\Internals
4. In Windows Explorer, right-click
c:\scripts\Prepare_Windows_Image.cmd file and select Run as
Administrator. You are prompted to supply the following
information:
i. Specify the NTP server host name that these images
should use.
ii. Specify whether the Windows image should use the

scp_sysprep_manager script, which automates the invocation
of the sysprep command when the image is deployed onto a new
virtual machine. The scp_sysprep_manager script enables you
to capture a Windows image in the high scale low touch cloud
provider environment without running the sysprep generalize
command first.
iii. Specify the default Administrator password, which is
stored in the unattend.xml file. This file is later
overwritten when the virtual machine is deployed (for
example, by the -a parameter to the iaas-deploy-vms command)
iv. The version number for this image
5. After the virtual machine reboots, install any other
software in this image.
6. Review the contents of the
C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\unattend.xml file.
7. When you are ready to finalize this image and shut down
the virtual machine, run the Sysprep_and_Shutdown.cmd script
provided in the WinImagePreparation.zip file.
