Error description

  • If you prompt multiple times for a misspelt CL command when you
press Enter on the line you will see messages for all the errors
not just the current one (if any).

    To reproduce with RDI 9.0.0:
    - Enable the Automatic syntax checking for the CL parser
    - Create a new CL source member (probably not req'd but it
    simplifies things)
    - Type in abc and press F4
    - Press enter to cancel the error
    - Backspace to the start and then type in def and press F4
    - Press enter to cancel the error
    - Backspace to the start and then type in gjh and press F4
    - Press enter to cancel the error
    - Press enter to insert a new line - Three error lines are
inserted reporting the three unknown commands (see attached
    screen capture of the result)
    - Cursor back up to the line with gjh and press enter - now NO
errors are reported even though gjh is not a CL command

This problem exists in RDP 8.5.1 as well

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Those who edit and prompt CL commands. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Extra syntax errors would be shown *
    * when editing CL source. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Syntax error messages were not being shown immediately (and
cleared) when the line was checked; but were queueing up and
then shown together with messages from later checks, giving
the appearance of duplicate error messages.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem is fixed in the RDi 9.0.1 update.
