Error description

  • Error message AMQ8289 is generated for CRTMQMCHL command when
the command is run from a user profile that does not have a
    group profile of QMQMADM.
AMQ8289 You are not authorized to the WMQ Command

The current WMQ code is incorrectly treating the CRTMQMCHL
command as Group 1 command .
Even if the userid has the correct authorization , such as:

    - *connect and *admcrt authority to the queue
    manager
    - *admdsp authority to the default channel that is being
used with which to create the new one.
(so for example, if the user is creating a Receiver channel ,
the user must have *admdsp to the SYSTEM.DEF.RECEIVER channel on
    the queue manager.)
    - *USE authority on the CL command itself

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
WMQ users on IBM i attempting to use channel commands such as
CRTMQMCHL without QMQMADM group profile or *ALLOBJ

    Platforms affected:
    iSeries

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
WMQ code is incorrectly treating channel commands, such as
CRTMQMCHL, as Group 1 commands, which in turn require either
*ALLOBJ authority or the QMQMADM group profile.
Furthermore, the documentation in InfoCenter is lacking in
defining what authorities are required for using such commands.

Problem conclusion

  • WMQ code has been modified to allow channel commands to be used
without the need for *ALLOBJ or QMQMADM group, provided the
    proper authorities are set.
The InfoCenter documentation has also been modified to provide
more information on securing authorities for this command.
