This problem is fixed in the RD Power 8.5.1 Fix Pack.

For any i Project, if a library name contains a variant
character, or a file or member name contains a variant
character, and then the file or member is pushed from the
i Project to the remote host, the push operation will fail
    with an error message.

(Variant characters are characters that correspond to
different code points across a given set of code pages.
eg, # is variant on IBM i )
