Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Those who use Screen Designer to edit * * display files, while referencing large * * database files, particularly logical file * * with multiple records. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Screen Designer has performance issues * * when display files reference large * * database files containing tens of * * thousands of fields, particularly with * * logical files with multiple records. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** It has been reported that Screen Designer shows a performance degradation when the display file being edited references a large database file with tens of thousands of fields, notably when the database file is a logical file containing multiple records. When opening the DSPF source member in Screen Designer, or doing a copy and paste operation, the editor will stall or hang for upwards of 30 seconds. The lower right status bar will show "Parsing DDS" or "Updating views". This performance delay is also noticable when display files are opened in Remote Systems LPEX Editor, but the delay is not as long.
Problem conclusion
Fixed in RD Power 8.0.3.1 fixpack.
