Error description

  • The Network Print Facility uses a JES FSS capture point
(EZAPPFS) to retrieve job output that is to be routed to
printers via TCP/IP connections. This process may occasionally
    terminate with the following:

EZY6182I NPFFR xxxxxxxx FSA POSTED BY JES, ORDID=00000010
EZY6182I NPFFR xxxxxxxx START DEVICE ORDER REFUSED,
                 ALREADY UP
       EZY6201E FSA xxxxxxxx ABENDED, USER CODE=0777 REASON=00000000

It is possible for this to begin occurring after some system
    upgrade (z/OS release, new processor).

Local fix

  • Verify that the NPRO in the JES definition for this writer is 0.
Non-zero values tend to make this problem more likely to occur.

Monitor for this ABEND preceded by this sequence of messages and
restart the writer proc when it occurs.
