Error description

  • AXFV abend occurs after migrating from CICS TS 4.1 to 5.1. The
problem only happens during PLTPI processing while running under
system task CPLT. During PLT 's, a program issues a LINK to
another program specifying a SYSID. DFHXFP calls DFHMNAD for
INQUIRE_ASSOCIATED_DATA. DFHMNAD checks for a monitoring control
block called an ADCB. CPLT is a system task and system tasks
don't have an ADCB so DFHMNAD returns to DFHXFP with a NOT_FOUND
error. Any non-okay response causes DFHXFP to issue the AXFV
    abend.

    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A PLT program issues EXEC CICS LINK *
    * SYSID. This fails with abend code AXFV. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
During second phase PLT, a program runs and issues an EXEC CICS
LINK command, specifying a SYSID. The named SYSID is another
    CICS system connected over MRO.
DFHXFP TRANSFORMER_1 runs, and attempts to calculate the length
of any application context data. To do this a call to DFHMNAD
INQUIRE_ASSOCIATED_DATA is made. This fails with an exception,
reason MNAD_NOT_FOUND. The EXCEPTION response causes the CPLT
system transaction to fail with abendAXFV.
CICS system transactions do not have associated data so the
NOT_FOUND response is correct and DFHXFP should not abend in
    this case.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHXFP has been altered to tolerate a NOT_FOUND response from
    DFHMNAD INQUIRE_ASSOCIATED_DATA.
