Error description

  • Message IEB1099I IEBCOPY IS NOT APF AUTHORIZED is issued during
    execution of stored procedure SYSPROC.ADMIN_UPDATE_SYSPARM

Starting in z/OS V1R13, IEBCOPY is no longer APF-authorized. It
does not need to be run from an authorized library, and calling
programs do not need to be APF-authorized. However, In V1R12
    IEBCOPY is APF-authorized.

During execution of DSNWLMR / DSNADMUZ message IEB1099I
*** IEBCOPY IS NOT APF AUTHORIZED *** is issued.

Local fix

  • Workaround:
Rename ZPARM load module before executing ADMIN_UPDATE_SYSPARM

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply PTF                                    *
    ****************************************************************
    (1) DB2 9 for z/OS and DB2 10 for z/OS only:
        SYSPROC.ADMIN_UPDATE_SYSPARM must run non APF-authorized.
However, IEBCOPY prior to z/OS 1.13 is required to be run
from an authorized library, and calling programs need
        to be APF-authorized.

    (2) DB2 10 for z/OS and DB2 11 for z/OS only:
The DB2 subsystem parameters load module must be link-edited
with the options AMODE=31 and RMODE=ANY.

    (3) Message DSNA685I must be returned when required, such as
when restoration of a DB2 subsystem parameters load module
        in storage did not occur.

Problem conclusion

  • (1) DB2 9 for z/OS and DB2 10 for z/OS only:
SYSPROC.ADMIN_UPDATE_SYSPARM is modified to invoke the
linkage editor to backup and restore the DB2 subsystem
        parameters load module.

    (2) DB2 10 for z/OS and DB2 11 for z/OS only:
The linkage editor options AMODE=31 and RMODE=ANY are
        specified when SYSPROC.ADMIN_UPDATE_SYSPARM link-edits the
        DB2 subsystem parameters load module.

    (3) Message DSNA685I is returned when required, such as when
restoration of a replaced active DB2 subsystem parameters
        load module did not occur.
