  • Over time, the number of log files can grow extensively when
    application domains and processes are started over and over.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The WebSphere eXtreme Scale Client for  *
    *                      .NET  does not adequately remove old    *
    *                      files from the system.                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A default set of low activity trace
    logs are created when .NET
    applications connect to the data grid. The
    log directory in which some of these
    files reside has a label that
    includes the process id of the
    running .NET applications. When the
    .NET application restarts, Windows
    assigns a new process id to this
    process. When the application
    connects to the data grid, a new log
    directory is created. Over time, the
    number of directories and log files
    can grow, excessively consuming disk
    resources.
    

Problem conclusion

  • WebSphere eXtreme Scale Client for .NET client properties were
    added and code changes were made to enable and configure
    comprehensive client log file pruning.
