Error description

  • Headline/Abstract:
    ***************************************************************
Rational Developer for System z (RDz): When running SQL
statements, the Default Schema is ignored.

    APAR Error Description:
    ***************************************************************
Rational Developer for System z - RDz V9.0.0 with Data Studio
    (DS) 4.1

If you leave the Default schema blank in the Database connection
settings, when running SQL inside an Editor, the Default Schema
defined in the 'Data Access Development Support' wizard is not
    taken into account.

    Re-creation steps:
    . open the Data perspective,
. define a database connection with no default schema
. open the z/OS projects perspective
    . define a z/OS project and sub-project
. add some programs to the sub-project
. right click on the sub-project and select 'Add Data Access
    Development Support'
. select the connection and fill-in the Default Schema,
. remove the user ID in the 'Current Path'

    Then,
    . Open a DB2 program inside the z/OS project and highlight a
    SQL statement
. Right click and select 'Run SQL'

The SQL result shows an error because it uses your own user id
as the schema id, instead of the default schema ID.

    ***************************************************************
    Local fix:
    As a work around:
    1) Create/Modify your database connection and set the default
    schema
    2) Remove the 'Data Access Development Support' form your
    project.
    3) Add 'Data Access Development Support' again and select the
connection you just created/modified. The default schema should
    remain unchanged.
    4) Run SQL statement again.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The default schema that the user specifies in the Add Data
Access Support wizard is not used. Instead, only the user's
    userID is used.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix
