When opening a compressed table space, a cancel occurred while
the compression dictionary was being loaded.   The ABEND04E
occurred during abort processing when attempting to free
storage related to the compression dictionary using an
uninitialized pointer.  This happened because the cancel
occurred before the pointer to the storage was initialized.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • To handle cancels that could occur during the loading of the
compression dictionary, DB2 was fixed to ensure pointers are
initialized in the correct sequence.
