  *                      incorrectly manage Global Variable      *
  *                      data resulting in:                      *
  *                      1. DB2 11 for z/OS (server) abend       *
  *                         04E-00E70005 DSNLXGRDS.DSN:P000, or  *
  *                      2. invalid Global Variable data being   *
  *                         returned to the remote requester     *
  *                         system.                              *
  *                         Resultant requester symptoms are     *
  *                         unpredictable. A known DB2 11 for    *
  *                         z/OS requester related symptom is:   *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  A DB2 11 for z/OS server receives a request from a remote (DRDA)
  requester system that requires an exchange of Global Variable
  data. DB2 server processing may either:
  1. abend 04E-00E70005 DSNLXGRDS.DSN:P000 if the associated SQL
     statement string is not Unicode encoded, or
  2. return invalid global variable data to the remote requester
     system.
     Unpredictable symptoms can occur at the remote requester
     system as a result of the invalid data being returned.
     Known requester system related symptoms include:
     . 04E-00D35011 DSNLZGLM.DSNLZRPA:030A relative to a DB2 11
       for z/OS requester.
  

Problem conclusion

• DB2 server processing has been changed to:
  1. Recognize global variable data relative to non Unicode SQL
     statement strings.
  2. Generate valid global variable data replies.
     Note: Users must be aware that if a requester related
       symptom is encountered, the condition can only be
       corrected by applying this change to the associated
       DB2 11 for z/OS server system.
