  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When using FM, client attempts to create a GDG dataset.
    Accesses to the catalog spiked. When the requested
    workspace is too small to satisfy the action, FM is not resuming
    the catalog request with a larger workarea.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All File Manager users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. Catalog services may loop when File *
    *                      Manager calls IGGCSI00 to obtain        *
    *                      catalog information.                    *
    *                      2. When creating a KSDS spanned data    *
    * set using an existing spanned data set *
    * as a model the spanned option is not *
    * being set on the VSAM Define panel. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
    1. A buffer overrun went undetected and FM would resume
    processing from the entry which actually caused the overrun,
    looping in processing.
    2. Some attributes of a model KSDS data set may not be set on
    the VSAM Define panel when allocating a KSDS data set.

Problem conclusion

  • 1. Buffer management will now detect the buffer overrun conditio
    and reallocate to a bigger buffer if necessary.
    2. The attributes of the model KSDS data set will be set on the
    VSAM Define panel when allocating a KSDS data set.
