  • Encoding issues while using certain characters with UTF-8 vs
    ISO-8859.

    *                      incorrectly depending upon the          *
    *                      inbound URI and the request encoding    *
    *                      set.                                    *

    When the inbound request URI is not UTF-8 encoded (for example,
    if requested via Microsoft Internet Explorer) but the request
    encoding is set to UTF-8 then characters whose encoded values
    are different in ISO-8859 vs UTF-8 will be displayed
    incorrectly in the response (for example: n-tilde characters).
    

Problem conclusion

  • The WebContainer code has been updated and the characters are
    encoded and decoded correctly based on the request encoding
    set. To get this new behavior the following new WebContainer
    custom property needs to be set in server.xml.
    
    <webContainer decodeParamViaReqEncoding="true"/>
      (default =false)
