Error description
Running Websphere Application Server, when changing the custom property 'maxPoolDepth' {of Activation Spec} value will cause the below exception. Trace: 2013/04/15 14:31:46.231 01 t=9B92A0 c=UNK key=P8 (13007002) ThreadId: 00000068 FunctionName: com.ibm.ejs.j2c.J2CUtilityClass SourceId: com.ibm.ejs.j2c.J2CUtilityClass Category: WARNING ExtendedMessage: BBOO0221W: J2CA0008W: Class com.ibm.mq.connector. inbound.ActivationSpecImpl used by resource cells/WQP02/clusters/cl_appIS1P_perf/resources. xml#J2CResourceAdapter_1295385982142 did not contain method setMaxPoolDepth. Processing continued.
Local fix
Change the data type of the custom property 'maxPoolDepth' {of Activation Spec} from type="int" to type="java.lang.Integer".
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0, V8.0 and V8.5. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Editing an integer type custom * * property of WMQ activation * * specification causes the property to * * be ignored. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The forward page for editing WMQ activation specification properties allows both the type and value of the property to be edited. Due to an incorrect typing of integer properties, the default type String is set for the form. As a result, even if a user does not change the type, only the value, when submitting the form, the type is changed to String. At startup, J2C attempts to initialize the WMQ activation specification and tries to set the properties on it. It fails to find a setter for the property modified because it now has the incorrect type.
Problem conclusion
This APAR resolves the problem by making only the value editable. Therefore the type cannot be changed and the problem is avoided. APAR PM91584 is currently targeted for inclusion in WebSphere Application Server Fix Packs 7.0.0.31, 8.0.0.8, and 8.5.5.2 of WebSphere Application Server. Please refer to URL: //www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=404&uid=swg27006970 for Fix Pack availability.
Temporary fix
Edit the resources.xml file by hand and correct the type. For the property affected change the type from: "java.lang.String" to "int"
