PM90506: MULTIPLE ABENDS IN IBB REXX

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When there are many selections in the selection_criteria of the
  VIEWIMS WHERE clause in an IBB REXX that creates a view, the
  user experiences several abends.
  
  For example: S0C4, RC=10: S0C6, RC=06: U0901.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. Batch Edit (IEB) or Batch Browse     *
  *                      (IBB) fails with an abendS0C4 or an     *
  *                      abendS0C6 when processing a VIEWIMS     *
  *                      call that specifies a selection         *
  *                      criteria expression that includes both  *
  *                      subexpressions that can be converted    *
  *                      into an SSA and subexpressions that     *
  *                      cannot be converted into an SSA.        *
  *                      The problem occurs when the length of   *
  *                      the subexpressions that cannot be       *
  *                      converted into an SSA exceeds 256       *
  *                      bytes.                                  *
  *                                                              *
  *                      2. AbendS0C4 or abendS0C6 after         *
  *                      entering a selection criteria           *
  *                      expression on the View Segment Layout   *
  *                      or Criteria Segment Layout panel.       *
  *                      The problem occurs when the entered     *
  *                      expression includes both subexpressions *
  *                      that can be converted into an SSA and   *
  *                      subexpressions that cannot be converted *
  *                      into an SSA and the length of the       *
  *                      subexpressions that cannot be converted *
  *                      into an SSA exceeds 256 bytes.          *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *
  ****************************************************************
  When the length of the subexpressions that cannot be converted
  into an SSA exceeds 256 bytes, these subexpressions overlay
  other control blocks.
  

Problem conclusion

• FM/IMS has been modified to correct these problems.
