Error description
When browsing an IMS database with a View, then selecting a segment, a find command is entered which ends up scanning the database and the value specified for MAXGN option is not honored.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All FM/IMS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The UAGNS parameter on the FMN1POPI * * macro statement specifies whether or * * not the IMS subsystem uses AGNS to * * secure dependent regions. * * Problems 1 to 4 occur when the IMS * * subsystem specified on the dialog's * * entry panel has the UAGNS parameter set * * to Y. * * Problem 5 occurs when the DOPT ACBLIB * * data set is for an IMS subsystem that * * has the UAGNS parameter set to Y. * * Problem 6 occurs when the IMS subsystem * * specified on the Subsystem Settings * * Menu has the UAGNS parameter set to Y. * * Problems 7 to 9 occur when the IMS * * subsystem specified in the job's IMSID= * * statement has the UAGNS parameter set * * to Y. * * * * 1. The FIND/CHANGE command does not * * limit the search to the number of * * segment occurrences specified in the * * MAXGN parameter when the Edit or Browse * * is run in BMP mode. * * * * 2. No CHKPFREQ= statement in the JCL * * generated by the Load or Batch Edit * * dialog when you specify BMP for the * * Region type. This statement should be * * generated when the FM/IMS installation * * options module specifies that the user * * may override the IMS subsystem default * * for the Load or Batch Edit checkpoint * * frequency. * * * * 3. No PROCOPT= statement in the JCL * * generated by the Extract, Print or * * Batch Browse dialog when you specify * * BMP for the Region type. This statement * * should be generated when you specify * * Dynamic for the PSB type and the FM/IMS * * installation options module specifies * * that the user may override the IMS * * subsystem default for the Extract, * * Print or Batch Browse PROCOPT. * * * * 4. No PARDLI=, IMSOBA=, IMSNBA= or * * LOCKMAX= statement in the JCL generated * * by the Extract, Load, Print, Batch Edit * * or Batch Browse dialog when you specify * * BMP for the Region type. This statement * * should be generated when the FM/IMS * * installation options module specifies * * that the user may override the IMS * * subsystem default for the PARDLI, * * IMSOBA, IMSNBA or LOCKMAX parameter. * * * * 5. The XDOPTLIB parameter is set to Y, * * but FM/IMS does not delete all the * * members from the DOPT ACBLIB data set * * and does not make all their space * * available for reuse before building * * blocks for the dynamic PSB. * * * * 6. Problems with the BMP Mode Options * * and the BMP Mode Parameters panels: * * i. The panels always display the IMS * * subsystem defaults for the options and * * parameters. When the FM/IMS * * installation options module specifies * * that the user can override the default * * for an option/parameter, the panel * * should display the value that the user * * previously specified for that * * option/parameter. * * ii. The panel field for an * * option/parameter is not protected when * * the FM/IMS installation options module * * specifies that the user cannot override * * the IMS subsystem default for the * * option/parameter. * * iii. When you update the panel field * * for an option/parameter and use the * * EXIT command (F3) to exit the panel, * * the value you specify is not saved in * * the user profile. * * * * 7. A CHKPFREQ= statement specified in * * the FMIMSIN DD input of a Load (ILB) or * * Batch Edit (IEB) job is not ignored * * when REGNTYPE=BMP is specified and the * * FM/IMS installation options module * * specifies that the user cannot override * * the IMS subsystem default for the Load * * or Batch Edit checkpoint frequency. * * * * 8. A PROCOPT= statement specified in * * the FMIMSIN DD input of an Extract * * (IXB), Print (IPR) or Batch Browse * * (IBB) job is not ignored when * * REGNTYPE=BMP is specified and the * * FM/IMS installation options module * * specifies that the user cannot override * * the IMS subsystem default for the * * Extract, Print or Batch Browse PROCOPT. * * * * 9. A PARDLI=, IMSOBA=, IMSNBA= or * * LOCKMAX= statement specified in the * * FMIMSIN DD input of an Extract (IXB), * * Load (ILB), Print (IPR), Batch Edit * * (IEB) or Batch Browse (IBB) job is not * * ignored when REGNTYPE=BMP is specified * * and the FM/IMS installation options * * module specifies that the user cannot * * override the IMS subsystem default for * * the PARDLI, IMSOBA, IMSNBA or LOCKMAX * * parameter. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** When UAGNS is set to Y and the Region type is set to BMP, an addressing error occurs which results in FM/IMS not using the correct setting for the following subsystem defaults: MAXGN, XDOPTLIB, UPARDLI, UIMSNBA, ULOCKMAX, UAUTOSAV, ULOADFRQ, UIEBFREQ, UPROCOPB, UPROCOPP, UPROCOPX and UPROCOPY This addressing error causes all the problems listed above.
Problem conclusion
FM/IMS has been modified to correct all these problems.
