APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When using Accounting and Statistics for monitoring node CPU
time, the actual CPU time is being added to the wait for message
CPU time and to the input node time when a message is
received. The CPU time should be allocated to the input node
after getting a message and before the any message validation
    occurs.

The incorrect statistics occur after applying APAR IC80423.
Before APAR IC80423, the time was not allocated to both the
input node CPU time and the waiting for messages CPU time and
was not including the validation of a message in the CPU time
for the input node. Hence after applying IC80423 the CPU time
for the input node increased since it was now including more CPU
time from processing of the message.

Note: This does not effect the elapsed time just the CPU time.

    USERS AFFECTED:

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When using message flow Accounting and Statistics for monitoring
node processor time, the actual CPU time spent processing a
message by the MQInput node is being added to the "CPU time
spent waiting for input" thread statistic as well as to the "CPU
time spent processing messages" node statistic. It should only
be added to the latter. This double counting was introduced by
APAR IC80423. In addition, the input node CPU time for
processing a message does not currently include the message
validation step, which it should do.

Note: This problem does not affect the elapsed time, just the
    CPU time.

There are a number of resource name changes between WebSphere
Message Broker and IBM Integration Bus Version 9.0. For

Problem conclusion

  • The product now includes the message validation as part of the
input node's CPU time spent processing messages, and the CPU
time spent waiting for input thread statistic does not include
    any message processing time.
