PM87547: JZOS EXEC.SETTIMEOUT SOMETIMES TIMES OUT PREMATURELY

Error description

• JZOS Exec setTimeout can set a timeout to occur if io does not
  occur within the timeframe specified.  In cases where the
  application is running on a highly loaded system (100 percent
  cpu usage), it has been seen where the timeout occurs prior
  to the desired time setting:  ie,  A 3 minute timeout value
  is set, yet the timeout is occurring in under 3 minutes.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• When running an external process using com.ibm.jzos.Exec on a
  highly loaded system (100 percent CPU usage), it has been
  observed that a timeout occurs prior to the desired time setting
  specified using setTimeout(): ie, a 3 minute timeout value is
  set, yet the timeout is occurring in under 3 minutes.
  

Problem conclusion

• This defect will be fixed in:
  6.0.0 SR14 (z/OS 31-bit)
  6.0.1 SR6 (z/OS 31-bit)
  7.0.0 SR5 (z/OS 31-bit)
  .
  The com.ibm.jzos.Exec class has been updated to prevent external
  processes from timing out prematurely when running on a highly
  loaded system (100 percent CPU usage).
