Error description

  • In FM/CICS and editing a TS queue, using the E command
from the list, FMN3CICB goes into loop or abends with the
following messages -

Local fix

  • Use S command against the generic resource name

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABENDU901 trying to edit/view a TS      *
*                      queue with a name that contains an      *
*                      asterisk.                               *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *
****************************************************************
B, E, P and V prefix commands should not be available from CICS
resource selection list unless the list was produced using
option 3.4 from FM/CICS. Using these commands with a generic
name like * repeatedly may exhaust File Manager stack storage.

Problem conclusion

  • File Manager has been modified to prevent these commands from
being issued from a resource list where they are not supported.
