PM85591: IBM RATIONAL CHANGE ERROR MESSAGE 'FAILED TO CHECKOUT LICENSE, LICENSE SERVER MAY NOT BE RUNNING'

Rational Change Interim Fix 1 for 5.2.0.8

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Using IBM Rational Change 5.2 the user attempts to login and
  sometimes receives error message in GUI.
  
  Failed to checkout license; license server may not be running.
  
  The license server is indeed up and running ok and the following
  is found in the event.log
  
  2013/02/28 12:25:37  Checking out a license for: ibmusr
  2013/02/28 12:26:27  ERROR: Read timed out
  
  Workaround is to stop and restart Change application.

  timeout error when license operations are done through
  separate java process.
  

Problem conclusion

• Fixed in Rational Change 5.2.0.8_iFix001 and planned for Fix
  Pack 5.3.0.6.
