PM84954: 'GO TO DRAFT' BUTTON SHOULD BE DISABLED IF THE USER DOESN'T HAVE READ ACCESS TO THE DRAFT ITEM

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a published item has only one draft item, then a 'Go to
Draft' button is displayed in read mode.
The problem is when a user doesn't have read access to this
draft item, then nothing happens after the button is clicked.
Ideally, the button should be removed or disabled when the user
doesn't have the required access permissions since they cannot
    read it anyway.

The issue happens because there was no access checking performed
for the display of the 'Go to Draft' button.

Local fix

  • The solution was to add access checking for the display of the
    'Go to Draft' button.
If the user doesn't have read access to the draft item, then the
button will be disabled (i.e. greyed out). We didn't remove the
button, so users can have a quick way of knowing that there
    actually is a draft item.
