Error description

  • Problem description:

    When there is a manual change made to
    $BIGINSIGHTS_HOME/hadoop-conf/hdfs-site.xml on the BI console
    node, then the following command is run

    > $BIGINSIGHTS_HOME/bin/removenodes.sh <existing datanode>

    the log file shows as SUCCEEDED even when the command
    to remove a node failed.

    Message example from the log file:

    2013-02-07 19:50:47,398 INFO DeployManager: RemoveNodes;
    SUCCEEDED components: [zookeeper, hadoop, hbase, flume, oozie,
    jaql, hive, pig, hcatalog, monitoring]; Consumes : 22821ms

    Expected results:

    removenodes.sh should either prompt to get overwrite
    confirmation for manual changes in the "hadoop-conf" directory,
    or fail the removenodes operation instead of "SUCCEEDED"
