Error description

  • When viewing an Application definition the 'Related UOBs'
    property is not seen under the Matrix chapter.

    The workaround is IDEF0.cfg file has to be modified. This can't
    be corrected via usrprops.

    1. Make a backup copy of the existing IDEF0.CFG file under
    System Architect Suite\System Architect\Property Set directory.
    2) Edit the IDEF0.CFG file
    3) Make the following change:

     DEFINITION 'Application'
     {
      PROPERTY 'Related UOBs' { EDIT ListOf 'Unit of Behavior'
    LENGTH 2000 HELP 'Must be entered through Matrix' READONLY }
     }

    to

    DEFINITION 'Application'
            {
     CHAPTER 'Matrix'
     GROUP 'Matrix References'
     {
     LAYOUT { COLS 2 TAB ALIGN OVER }
     PROPERTY 'Related UOBs' { EDIT ListOf 'Unit of Behavior' LENGTH
    2000 HELP 'Must be entered through Matrix' READONLY }
     }
            }

    4) Save the file.
    5) For existing encyclopedias -
     a) Go to Tools \ Encyclopedia File Manager
     b) From the 'Import a File into the encyclopedia' drop down
    list select Import File As
     c) Select the IDEF0.CFG file under the System Architect
    Suite\System Architect\Property Set directory
     d) In the Import File As dialog, change the name to PROPERTY
    SET\IDEF0.CFG
     e) Hit OK.
     f) In the Encyclopedia File Manager, delete the file
    SAPRP409.bin
     g) Close the File Manager
     h) Reopen the encyclopedia
     i) Now for existing or new Application definitions you will
    notice the first chapter will be Matrix, and both 'Related UOBs'
    and 'Related EBPs' properties are seen.
    6) New encyclopedias will automatically get the new IDEF0.cfg
    file, so you will not have to go through the steps in step 3.
    The Application definition will show both properties in the
    Matrix chapter.

    NOTE: By design as can be seen with the help text the Related
    UOBs property can only be modified via the 'Unit of Behavior to
    Application' matrix in the Matrix Browser.

    The "Related UOBs" property used to be displayed in the
    Matrix chapter but is now appearing in the Introduction
    chapter.

Problem conclusion

  • The property was not assigned to a specific chapter so it
    was placed in the default.

    A few changes were made to address this issue:

    1) The Related UOB's property was moved to its own chapter
    for the Application and Technology definitions. It's easier
    to find properties this way rather than placing them into a
    generic "matrix" chapter. "Matrix" doesn't tell you
    anything about what you should expect to find in that
    chapter.

    2) Made sure the "Introduction" chapter is displayed first.
    Technology had used "Definition" as the first chapter but
    now renamed it to "Introduction" so it matches Application
    and most other definition types.

    3) Made Description property zoomable.
