Error description

  • abstract:

The 'Modeling REST services' feature is now in 8.5 and 8.5.1 a
required dependency for all the 'Architecture and Model Driven
Architecture' features. If you deselect it it will automatically
deselect all the others.

Environment:
 - Microsoft Windows/Linux
 - IBM Rational Software Architect version 8.5 and 8.5
 - IBM Rational Software Architect for WebSphere version 8.5 and
8.5

Steps to reproduce:
Install IBM Rational Software Architect 8.5 or 8.5.1.
In the 'Architecture and Model Driven Architecture' unselect
'Modeling REST services'.
Result:
All the other options are cleared.

Modify an existing package by deselecting the 'Modeling REST
services'.
Result.
All the other features under the 'Architecture and Model Driven
Architecture' section will be as well deselected.

workaround:

There is no known workaround at this time.
Note that since version 8.5, the Modeling REST services' is not
part of the 'Extension for SOA and WebSphere' anymore. It is now
included in the base offering of IBM Rational Software Architect
8.5 and therefore does not require an extra license.
With 8.0, installing this feature without the Extension for SOA
and WebSphere license would have needed a license for the
'Extension for SOA and WebSphere'. This is not the case anymore
with version 8.5.

Problem summary


    

  • The "Modeling REST services" feature in 8.5 and 8.5.1 has a
required dependency for the "Architecture and Model Driven
Architecture" feature. If you de-select it, all others will
automatically be deselected as well.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The request has been put in RSx 90 release.

The dependency has been removed, the
required changes have been completed in RSx 9.0 release.
