Error description

  • DFSISTS0 SYM OUTPUT LENgth is incorrect when symbolic terminal
name control statement is specified as
    SYM NAME=(NSX003D1,,O,ALL)
    .
    ex:DFSISTS0 report
    OUTPUT SEG=001 LEN 1584
But the LEN 1584 was incorrect, the correct message text was
1580 length in IMS 03 log. it was due to adding 4 bytes
(MSGXDLEN+MSGXFLG1+MSGXFLG2) for the pure message length.
The problem was exposed when the DFSISTS report was compared
    IMS V9 with IMS V11.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DFSISTS0 output length may be incorrect *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF *
    ****************************************************************
The length used by DFSISTS0 for SYM output is 4 bytes too long
because DFSISTS0 does not account for 4 bytes of flag data
when calculating the length of the message field.

Problem conclusion

  • GEN:
    KEYWORDS:

    *** END IMS KEYWORDS ***
The length used by DFSISTS0 for SYM output is reduced by 4 to
account for flag bytes and prevent unintended characters from
    being printed.
