Error description

  • Problem happens if there is a storage violation and dumpcode
SM0102 is defined with option SHutdown. A dump is taken for
the SM0102 and CICS begins to terminate. However, during
shutdown we see DUMPCODE: KERNDUMP, DUMPID: 0/0000.
(MODULE DFHKESTX) and the Job completes with
    CICS - ABEND=S0C1 U0000 REASON=00000001
The KERNDUMP is for an abend0C1. DFHKETCB is entered
from DFHKESTX with reg6 pointing at the KE stack and not the
     base address for DFHKETCB.
DFHKESTX was entered with a SWDA for a loop U999 (3E7).
KE dump error table has AKEG abends on the KTCB for
    QR, RO and STEP TCBs:
KE_NUM ERROR TYPE ERR_CODE MODULE OFFSET

    * termination is triggered by the *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
SM0102 is specified with shutdown option in the user's CICS
region. A user task encounters storage violation. At the end of
the cleaning up of the task, DFHSMAR obtains the SM domain lock
and issues the SM0102 message. This message triggers system
termination. During system termination, some CICS TCB tasks may
need to acquire storage but they would fail due to being unable
to obtain the SM domain lock. This eventually causes the system
to terminate with abend code 0C1.

    Additional keyword: S0C1 ABEND0C1 ABENDS0C1

Problem conclusion

  • DFHSMAR has been changed so that the SM domain lock is released
    before SM0102 message is issued.
