Error description

  • Error message with CQ Eclipse Designer is confusing / not clear
as compared with the error message with the CQ Old Designer.

    CQ version - 7.1.2.x
DB Vendor - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
    OS - Windows (Microsoft)

When checking in the schema the Designer throws an error
message. The actual cause is lack of necessary disk space and it
is necessary to increase the size of the CQ User DBs using the
SQL Server Enterprise Manager on the SQL Server.

Error message from the CQ Eclipse Designer:
    *****************
    ERROR : A CException occurred:
An attempt was made to access an unnamed file past its end.
    *****************
Error message with the Old CQ Designer:
    *****************
    ERROR! CRMDB0054E [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL
Server]Could not allocate space for object
'CQApp.schemarev_binaries' in database 'CQSchema' because the
'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting
unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding
additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for
    existing files in the filegroup.
The database connection is lost. You may need to close your
    application and start again.
    *****************

The lack of of a detailed error message in the Eclipse Designer
makes it very difficult to find out and fix the actual cause of
    the problem.

    ****************************************************************
If you lack the necessary disk space when checking in a CQ
schema with the CQ Eclipse Designer, the error message is
confusing and not as clear as compared with the error
message with the CQ Windows Designer.

Problem conclusion

  • After analysis of this APAR we have determined we won't fix
this issue due to low priority/severity and the risk of a
fix. A priority decision has been made that this defect
cannot be addressed in the next 18 months without neglecting
issues of higher importance and less risk.

We are working on a technote which warns CQ Eclipse Designer
users that if they receive the message:

    *****************
    ERROR : A CException occurred:
An attempt was made to access an unnamed file past its end.
    *****************

they should check whether they have enough disk space.

    Thank you for your understanding.
