PM80907: EXTENSION COMMAND DOES NOT READ XML-FILES INTO A RUNNING SESSION OF STATISTICS 21

APAR status

Error description

• You work with IBM SPSS Statistics 21 and Python Essentials for
  release 21 installed on a Windows computer.
  
  You create a new system environmental variable
  SPSS_EXTENSIONS_PATH and define a user path where you put your
  extension XML files and your Python py files e.g.C:\Extension
  
  Then you launch SPSS Statistics 21. At the startup SPSS will
  normally load all the extension commands which are stored in the
  default extensions folder and the folder as specified in the
  SPSS_EXTENSIONS_PATH.
  
  after you launched the program you copy the some new xml and
  Python files in this folder in order to use new commands in a
  syntax file of the running Statistics 21 session.
  
  Then you want to dynamically activate the new command via the
  extension command and run it in a new syntax window:
  EXTENSION /SPECIFICATION COMMAND="C:\Extension\My new
  command.xml".
  
  Then you type the name of the new command in the syntax.
  Normally when you have autocomplete activated on syntax the new
  command should be listed now on the dropdown list of available
  commands.
  
  But the new command defined in the xml is not listed on the
  dropdown list so it is not dynamically recognized in the running
  session.
  
  However, when you restart Statistics 21 and type your new
  command name on a new syntax window it is recognized as new
  command, so a reboot is required.
  This was reported to IBM SPSS statistics development.
