PM80311: Running an EGL-generated Java VGWebTransaction program deployed to a J2EE environment fails in Rational Business Developer

Error description

  • When running an EGL-generated Java VGWebTransaction program
deployed to a J2EE environment you are required to set the
program property enableJ2EE=true. This is an exception the usual
method of entering the option j2ee=true in the build descriptor.

In RBD 8.0.1.3/4 and RBD 8.5.x this fails with an error as
described below.

A popup will appear with the following approximate content:

'egl.core.RuntimeException: EGL0733E J2EELib may only be used in
the J2EE environment. The error occurred in ?VGPrgName?
processing the ?someMethod) function.'

In RBD 8.0.1.4 and 8.5.1 and before, when running an
EGL-generated Java VGWebTransaction program deployed to a
J2EE environment and the program property enableJ2EE=true,
use the J2EElib will produce a runtime error.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • In RBD 9.0 and after, J2EELib can be used successfully in  an EG
L-generated Java VGWebTransaction program deployed to a J2EE env
ironment.
