    *                 Release 0 Modification 1.                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Quiesce shutdown of the queue manager *
    * does not show the outstanding *
    * connections to the queue manager from *
    * other applications, which the queue *
    * manager waits on before stopping. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    During a quiesce shutdown of a queue manager, any connections
    from external applications still in progress will cause the
    quiesce shutdown to wait until the connections end. This may
    cause the appearance of the queue manager failing to shutdown
    in quiesce mode as these open connections are not shown when the
    stop is initiated.

Temporary fix

Comments

  • The shutdown of the queue manager has been altered to display
    all active connections that are not from the queue manager or
    channel initiator. This displays the connections that the queue
    manager will wait to complete before being able to quiesce
    shutdown. Additionally the new APPLTYPE 'SYSTEMAL' has also been
    defined, for use with the 'WHERE' operator of the 'DISPLAY'
    command. 'SYSTEMAL' represents a group of both 'SYSTEM' and
    'CHINIT' application types.

    ============== DOC Changes for V701 Infocenter ================
    Pages describing the APPLTYPE need to be updated to show the
    addition of SYSTEMAL to the available APPLTYPE's used for WHERE
    filters.

    Under the 'filter-value' heading of the 'WHERE' section should
    be update add an additional bullet point to the list, as
    follows:

    On z/OS , SYSTEMAL for the APPLTYPE filter keyword. This
    APPLTYPE value describes all system application types that are
    connected to the queue manager, this describes a group of both
    SYSTEM and CHINIT application types. This APPLTYPE value will
    not be returned as an attribute of a connection.

    =============== DOC Changes for V710 Infocenter ================
    The SYSTEMAL APPLTYPE was added as part of V710, but the
    infocenter need include documentation on this and its usage.

    In the section 'Parameter descriptions for DISPLAY CONN', under
    the head 'WHERE' -> 'filter-value', an additional bullet point
    should be included explaining the following:

    On z/OS , SYSTEMAL for the APPLTYPE filter keyword. This
    APPLTYPE value describes all system application types that are
    connected to the queue manager, this describes a group of both
