    ****************************************************************
DB2 server LOB processing incorrectly over allocated storage
for a LOB when the remote requester requires DRDA encryption
of the data. The reported abend occurred when an attempt was
made to allocate encryption buffers since the pool already
reached its limit. The pool may also have become highly
fragmented due to requests to enlarge message buffers where a
storage area of the larger requested size was not available.

Problem conclusion

  • DB2 server LOB processing has been changed to allocate the
right amount of storage to hold a LOB based on its length,
    when using DRDA encryption.
DB2 server processing will also periodically request the
contraction of the storage pool used to obtain the storage for
message buffers so that the impact of storage fragmentation
    will be minimized.
