Error description

  • By default, the global index asynchronously updates from the
    HashIndex so that data returned from the MapGlobalIndex API may
    be inconsistent from the HashIndex.
    Currently, a global index cannot be configured to use
    a synchronous update process that ensures global index data
    is always consistent with the HashIndex.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: New feature that synchronously *
    * updates the global index as part of *
    *                      the user transaction.                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    By default, a global index updates data in asynchronous mode
    after a transaction has completed. This creates a window in
    time when the queried index data may not be synchronized
    witj the committed data.

Problem conclusion

  • A HashIndex property (GlobalIndexSyncUpdate) allows users to
    ensure that the queried index data is always in
    synch with transactions that are committed. Because of the
    overhead to update the indexes, this new feature
    does have a performance impact on user transactions. The
    property only takes affect when the GlobalIndexEnabled property
    is also set to true.
