    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Tasks running in a JVMServer can delay *
    *                      CICS shutdown.                          *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The CICS supplied shutdown assist programs attempt to stop
    all JVMServer activity using the EXEC CICS SET JVMServer API
    which fails with an INVREQ meaning that any tasks using the
    JVMServer are not terminated.
    An additional problem addressed by this apar is as follows:
    Using sample DFH½UMOD as input to SMP/E gives return code
    16 because module DFHESC has been deleted.

Problem conclusion

  • The EXEC CICS SET JVMServer commands have been removed from
    the CICS supplied shutdown assist programs and replaced by a
    call to SJ domain in the System Termination Program. For a
    normal shutdown CICS attempts to PHASEOUT any JVMServers whilst
    for an IMMEDIATE shutdown CICS will attempt to PURGE the
    JVMServers.
    The line referring to module DFHESC in DFH½UMOD has been
    deleted from DFH$UMOD.
